How I Know This Works!
I'm Michele Bell.
I spent more than 25 years in corporate finance, including working as a CFO. So when I left the corporate world and started my own business, I thought the financial side would be the easy part.
It wasn't.
Knowing finance and managing the money in your own business are two very different things.
Now it was my money. My paycheck. My expenses. My decisions.
Could I afford to hire? Was I charging enough? How much should I pay myself? Was the business actually making enough money to support the life I wanted?
I knew how to read financial reports. But I wasn't always looking at the right numbers to make decisions about my own business.
I waited five years to make my first hire because I wasn't sure I could afford it. Once I finally did, it freed me up to focus on higher-value work and helped propel the growth of the business. Two years later, I hired again.
I learned to use my numbers to make better pricing decisions too. One year, I raised my client pricing and grew revenue by 16%.
Over time, those decisions added up.
Today, I've built a multi-six-figure business with strong, consistent profit margins. I have a team, I'm not tied down to doing all the client work myself, and I can be selective about the clients I take on. My business also allows me to put money away for my own future, including contributing close to the maximum to my retirement plan.
That's what understanding your numbers can actually do.
It's not about becoming better at accounting. It's about knowing when you can hire. When to raise your prices. What you can afford to pay yourself. What you can invest for the future. And when you can say no to a client who isn't right for you.
That's why I created The Numbers Method.
